The alumni sector of the Derech Eretz Association serves as a cornerstone for its community of graduates, continuing to support and guide them throughout their lives at every crossroads and moment of uncertainty. The organization focuses on strengthening and empowering individuals with care, professionalism, and persistence. The alumni sector remains a significant part of graduates' lives in various ways, including the creation of a large and active alumni community, enriching graduates through workshops, seminars, and meetings, as well as providing guidance, counseling, and personal support at key moments in their lives. All activities aim toward one goal: to help graduates realize their potential personally, professionally, and socially, becoming active, meaningful, and engaged citizens in Israeli society.   Our 1,947 alumni continue to be deeply engaged in strengthening Israeli society. What we do:
  • Supporting alumni in IDF and reserve duty: Over 70% served in the reserve duty the past year, with 56% in combat roles.
  • Expanding mentorship and career guidance: Providing post-Mechina pathways in higher education, civil society, and leadership.
  • Launching new social initiatives, including Sayeret Mishehi (‘The Someone Squad’), a nationwide volunteer organization.
The Someone Squad: Honoring Our Fallen, Serving Our Nation Founded by Derech Eretz Alumni in memory of their friends Roi Daoui (top photo) and Evitar Ohiyaon Abuksis (bottom photo), two Derech Eretz alumni who fell in service, Sayeret Mishehu (‘The Someone Squad’) embodies the values of commitment, leadership, and action. Thousands of volunteers came together to support others, in what turned into a nation-wide project bringing citizens from all walks of life together to “be that someone” for others.
  • 2000 + volunteers mobilized across Israel.
  • Assisted Western Negev farmers and communities recovering from war-related damages.
  • Provided ongoing community support: tutoring children, assisting the elderly, and rebuilding local infrastructure all across Israel.
  • Working with schools and volunteer groups on a weekly basis.
We are tremendously proud of Derech Eretz Alumni - Celine, Roey, Namma, Amit, Shai, Nitzan, Tal and our Alumni Staff for bringing “The Someone Squad” to the world! Keep up the incredible work. This initiative is a testament to our alumni’s enduring dedication to Tikkun Olam—repairing the world through action. We invite you to contribute to this program - allowing our alumni to develop more social initiative and give them the resources to make a difference in Israeli society.

Community Events

Chag Amuta
Once a year, during Hanukkah, we celebrate the existence of the association with our alumni, partners, and past and present teams. We enjoy engaging discussions, good food, singing, dancing, and reconnecting with one another by the light of the bonfire.
Yom Kippur
Every Yom Kippur, we invite our alumni to come home, to the preparatory program. Together with the current participants, we hold a shared Yom Kippur, bringing together different traditions and allowing each person to observe the day according to their beliefs.
Alumni Gatherings
The annual gathering of all the association’s members. Periodically, each preparatory program chooses to hold its own reunion, to catch up on everyone’s well-being, share memories, and be together.
