‘Derech Eretz’ was founded with a clear mission: to empower Israel’s youth and young adults through transformative social-educational leadership programs. Focusing on youth from the socio-economic periphery, our programs aim to bridge social gaps, level the playing field, and develop a new generation of engaged citizens.
Key numbers and icons:
- 44% of alumni currently serving in the IDF hold or aspire to command positions — compared to the national average of 2-4% for youth from mid-to-low socioeconomic backgrounds (IDF, 2023)
- 90% of alumni stay in touch with peers, even 8 years after finishing the program
- 46% of alumni aged 21+ volunteer compared to 22% in the general Israeli population (CBS, 2023)

We believe that the ‘how’ is as important as the ‘why’, and sometimes even more. That is why we are always assessing and researching our impact – both on the personal and on the social level. Every year we collect data, analyze, learn and deduct conclusions as to how we can create better programs, with higher quality and greater scale.
